INCLUSION WORKS PROJECT

Reducing the Barriers to Employment of Persons with Disabilities
In collaboration with Sarah Cohen – U.S Educator and Producer, we developed a short documentary-style film. This film is a dialogue between a group of people with disabilities and a group of hiring managers, serving as a platform for conversation around increased compliance with Nigeria’s disability rights legislation that requires 5% of persons with disabilities be recruited into the workforce. This has also caused a positive effect for Nigerian employers/recruiters of labor such as Jobberman Nigeria to begin to put structures such as mobility, work flexibility, healthcare, etc. to ensure more inclusion for employees with disability.

We designed and published the Nigerian Disability Employment Manual which is currently used by recruiting organizations such as Jobberman Nigeria and Enterprise Development Center – Pan Atlantic University with over 70,000 employers, over 2 million employees and over 100,000 small medium business owners across West Africa. Currently, we are providing capacity building workshops for Nigerian employers of labour to motivate employers to hire accessibility related business settings for persons with disabilities in the Nigerian workplace. Jobberman Nigeria is partnering with Special Needs Initiative For Growth to train youths with visual impairment, down syndrome and autism on employment soft skills for productivity. They will also be connected to employment opportunities after the training.
